The Maine release their new record Forever Halloween on June 4th. We’re happy to announce that the band will be hosting an idobi Radio takeover on June 3rd … Forever Halloween eve, if you will.

The band will give a little insight on the recording process, an early listen to the record, talk to some people who helped create the record, and give some additional bonus material all put together in one awesome show.

Mark your calendars for June 3rd at 8pm ET/7pm CT/5pm PT.

Here’s a little video I made for Alt Press at their SXSW party this year, with the help of Lexie Alley! It was a pretty fun day, and we got to see Frank Turner, Chris Carrabba, Andrew WK, and even Hayley Williams made a quick appearance with What’s Eating Gilbert. I graduated yesterday. I went to college in Des Moines, Iowa for the past 4 years. For a good portion of that time, I wished I could just get out and be somewhere that I could have more opportunities for photography and work. In my first year at school, I started a web design business and began working at an online radio station. I spent so much time working on these things the past 3 years, along with photography. I would work until 2 am, sleep, and repeat. By the end, I had a nice resume, but I wasn’t having the time of my life; I think that’s why I wanted out so badly.

It wasn’t until a few months ago I realized that I was an idiot. I couldn’t have been in a better place. There are a lot of things that make me happy outside of college, but they are absolutely fucking nothing to me in comparison to sleepless nights with my best friends. I wish I came to that realization sooner.

These are the 3 most important things I’ve learned at college:

Read a newspaper every day
Don’t drink tequila
The best place on earth is wherever you are with friends

If you’re in school right now and want to be somewhere more exciting, just take a deep breath. Enjoy it, because when you close that chapter of your life you might feel different. Working is important to many people, and so is ‘making your mark.’ But don’t dismiss everything else as secondary because it’s not work.

I wouldn’t trade these past 4 years for anything, and if I could do them over again at the same college, I would. In retrospect, the only things I might change are to spend every damn night with my friends, and drink less tequila. Some tequila… just a bit less.

Could you show before and after shots of your photographs? I'd love to see some, if you don't mind. Keep up the great work! :)

sure, here are a couple real recent ones;

sorry just realized i flipped the before and after on the second one… left is after.

mostly just color tweaks, cropping, dodge/burn, curves, and occasionally clone stamping out annoying things.

My favorite gig I’ve ever done is shooting Armor For Sleep’s NYC farewell show for them. Never would have thought in a hundred billion years I’d get to do something like that. I think 99% of you that will read this went or are going through being a teenager and listened to sad music and there are like a couple of albums that you played until the CD was all scratched up and you had the band’s posters on your walls. And those bands are the ones that you will always freakin’ worship even if they released like 2 relatively unacclaimed albums in 2005. That was totally AFS for me.

I’m gonna show my grandkids these pictures and tell them about it and they’re gonna be like “grandpa shut up nobody cares about oldies emo,” but the point is I’m gonna tell them anyway ‘cause this will probably be one of the most special things I’ll ever do with photography.
